Simcoe.com - Degrassi star added to TIFT cast

BARRIE - Talk is Free Theatre has announced the cast for its world premiere production of the musical Dani Girl, on stage Jan. 21 to 29 at the Barrie Community Health Centre.

The cast includes Jake Epstein (Degrassi: The Next Generation and the national tour of Spring Awakening) in the role of Rafe and other characters.

Joining Epstein is his sister Gabi Epstein (TIFT’s Napoleon: In Concert) in the lead role of Dani.

Other cast members include Jayme Armstrong (CBC’s How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria, and Stratford) as Dani’s mother, and Johnathan Logan (TIFT’s Dear World Workshop) as Dani’s friend Marty.

The show will be directed by Richard Ouzounian (Toronto Star theatre critic and director of TIFT’s Red Fightin’ Blue, Variations on a Nervous Breakdown, Emily, and Anyone Can Whistle: In Concert).

Dani Girl is the story of a nine-year-old girl who finds herself face to face with a life-threatening disease. The musical is simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking.
